A Guest Post By Miss Raquel

Who are you?

By: Miss Raquel

Thank you so much for asking me to guest post here, Maya!  I discovered your blog a few days prior to your request and I was delighted that you would give me the honor of writing for you:)  I hope you (and your readers) will be blessed by my post…

I am going to start this post with a very simple question.

Who are you?

What would you say if someone just randomly came up to you and asked you that?   Each of us would have a different answer.

We’d probably stutter a little at first, right?  ‘Umm…my name? or…?’

‘Who are you?’

‘I’m ____’ (fill in the blank with your name)

‘Who are you?’

Now by this point you’d probably (or at least, I hope ;) get the idea that the person asking this is obviously searching for a more…defined answer.

Like I said…we would each have a different answer.

‘Oh, I’m just your average teenager.  I live in the city.  Own a couple cats.’

‘I’m a reader!!  I love to read!  I mean, I absolutely devour books!  People call me a book worm!  And it is SO true!  Seriously!’

‘I live in the country.  Wear jeans and a cowboy hat all day.  Ride my horse when I got a chance.  And I like long walks at night.’

See?  Quite a variety of answers.

But…as a Christian…if you stop and think about what our calling in life is…would that change your answer to the question?

The Bible tells us to be lights in this dark world.  To go forth and shine our good works so that we may glorify our Father in heaven.  As believers, our goal in life is to point to Christ.

Some people are very shy about their faith.  They are afraid that once people know that they are ‘those so-called-Christians’, that they will suddenly be shunned and pushed away.

But does a true believer stop at that?  Does a Christian shy from being persecuted for the LORD’s sake?  Jesus tells us ‘Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven’.

Who are you?

There are so many fake ‘Christians’ out there right now.  Does the world need to be introduced to more?

‘Who will separate us from the love of Christ?  Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?  Just as it is written, ‘For your sake we are being put to death all day long; we were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.’  But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.’

-         Romans 8:35-37
